Many modern Christians accept Jesus as their Savior, but do not believe in Adam or Noah or other Biblical acccounts. They rely on modern science that has postulated evolution and other theories to explain the past. The scientific method of repeatable testing will not work on distant past unrepeatable events. Historical science is based on theories. My guess is that modern scientists would also reject a virgin birth and a resurrection. In order to be consistent in the reliance on modern scientific thought, how could a person believe in the Jesus story? Salvation is not based on our beliefs of creation, but to reject Genesis puts one in a difficult position......did thorns, weeds and death happen before the neanderthal/cro-magnon man became the self-realized Adamish man? If sin and the resulting curse of death is not true, then why did Jesus need to die for sin? Did God need to become "Emmanuel?" You are now in the position to choose any parts of Scripture you like and reject any you don't----stripping Christianity of any of its solid foundations.
The Bible gives us an account of the origin of space, time, matter, earth, dry land, water, plants, stars, sun, moon, sea creatures, flying creatures, land animals, humans, marriage, the seven-day week, clothing, sin, death, languages, nations, and much more! We learn about the Tower of Babel and the global Flood of Noah’s day. No evolutionist book covers all these topics. No other book does this, not the Koran or any Hindu book. Only the Bible gives such a detailed account of history.
If the Bible is really what it claims to be, a revelation from an omnipotent Creator, then the history that is revealed to us will make sense of the evidence of the present, and observational (empirical) science should confirm this history—and it does!
Historically accurate? Does it matter?
"The idea of the Bible being historically accurate is important for the following reasons: The Scripture itself makes the claim that God has intervened in history. Many of these events have been recorded for us in Scripture. The people were urged to remember what God had done for them in the past. They were to call to mind actual historical events that took place. Also the central truth of the Christian faith-that God became a human-happened in history. The historical accuracy of these claims demonstrates the truth of the Christian faith and its superiority over other religions that have no such verifiable evidence. This makes the historically accuracy of Scripture something that is of vital importance." Don Stewart
Richard Bozarth states:
"Without Adam, without the original sin, Jesus Christ is reduced to a man with a mission on the wrong planet . . . . Sin becomes not an ugly fate due to man’s disobedience, but only the struggle of instincts . . . . Christianity has fought, still fights, and will fight science to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus’ earthly life was supposedly made necessary. Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the sorry remains of the son of god. Take away the meaning of his death. If Jesus was not the redeemer who died for our sins, and this is what evolution means, then Christianity is nothing! Christianity, if it is to survive, must have Adam and the original sin and the fall from grace or it cannot have Jesus the redeemer who restores to those who believe what Adam’s disobedience took away."
Some Christians attempt to reconcile evolution with the Bible due to an unfounded concern that the Bible will not hold up to scientific scrutiny. This is an unwarranted fear. Concerning science and Scripture, while the Bible was not written as a science textbook, Christians should welcome the Bible being investigated through scientific endeavors such as archeology, geology, paleontology, etc. The Bible consistently holds up under such tests. It is now even recognized that the Bible correctly demonstrates pre-science knowledge throughout the science disciplines. And there are no scientific mistakes in the Bible (Defender's Study Bible, annotations by Henry Morris, page 1525). www.faithfacts.org

Creation scientists are as interested in understanding genetics, astronomy, geology, biology, and the fossil record as any other scientists. But when addressing past events that cannot be tested by repeatable experiments or observed to be happening in the present, creation scientists allow their thinking and their scientific models to be guided by the only reliable eyewitness account available—the one provided by God in the Bible. Our refusal to accept evolution is not the result of fear but the result of a decision to accept the authoritative Word of the eternal Creator over the untestable opinions of fallible people, most of whom deny the Creator and His Word.
Adam and Eve.....real people? There is good evidence to believe that Adam and Eve were real persons. First, Genesis 1–2 presents them as actual persons and even narrates the important events in their lives (=history). Second, they gave birth to literal children who did the same (Gen. 4:1, 25; 5:1ff). Third, the same phrase (“this is the history of”), used to record later history in Genesis (6:9; 9:12; 10:1, 32; 11:10, 27; 17:7, 9), is used of Adam and Eve (Gen. 5:1). Fourth, later OT chronologies place Adam at the top of the list (1 Chron. 1:1). Fifth, the NT places Adam at the beginning of Jesus’ literal ancestors (Luke 3:38). Sixth, Jesus referred to Adam and Eve as the first literal “male and female,” making their physical union the basis of marriage (Matt. 19:4). Seventh, Romans declares that literal death was brought into the world by a literal “Adam” (Rom. 5:14). Eighth, the comparison of Adam (the “first Adam”) with Christ (the “last Adam”) in 1 Corinthians 15:45 manifests that Adam was understood as a literal, historical person. Ninth, Paul’s declaration that “Adam was formed first, then Eve” (1 Tim. 2:13–14) reveals that he speaks of a real person. Tenth, logically there had to be a first real set of human beings, male and female, or else the race would have had no way to begin. The Bible calls this literal couple “Adam and Eve,” and there is no reason to doubt their real existence. Eyewitnesses testified to the truth of the events in the Bible=====Luke 1
Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
Here is another problem----If creation happened over billions of years.....then death was commonplace before there was man or sin. Yet the Bible says that death was the result of sin. Romans 5:12 "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned"-- If there is no sin and resultant death....there was no reason for a Savior. Jesus was therefore deluded to think He was the Savior of the world. His references to Adam and Eve were mistaken. Jesus was not, therefore the SECOND ADAM, the sinless one, to redeem a lost world. Also, did God create the world in 6 billion years---and then REST for A Billion years on "day" 7???
